Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
For a newly qualified therpaist, the simple approach to treating depression is to tell the patient to "go away and pull yourself together". Of course this is a little harsh and probably ineffective. However, there is an alternative and that is called Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. This treatment works by teaching you to tell the patient to go away and visualise themselves pulling themselves together. It is a subtle but highly effective difference.
